Trip to the Lake

It is starting to feel even more like summer. On Sunday, Kevin and I meet up with my parents at one of their friend's lake house. It was such a beautiful day and so relaxing. I wish we could have stayed longer, but I keep telling myself only four more weeks, four more weeks! We had so much fun and it was nice to have some family time. Even though we live in the same city as my parents we really don't see them that much, or if we do see them it is always for a short period of time so it was nice to spend the day with them.

We started our afternoon by doing a little fishing. Kevin was able to try out his new light weight pole and let me tell you, it was a lucky pole. Right when Kevin cast his line he immediately caught a fish. On the other hand, I didn't have that kind of luck. I had a few bites and that was the end of that.

After throwing out a few lines, we had a big lunch. My dad grilled and my mom made all of the extras.

Our afternoon continued with more fishing. Kevin was still on a roll and my luck officially ran out so I decided to enjoy the sun by getting sunburned and painting my toes. As my dad read, my mom joined in on the fishing. My mom has talked about fishing when she was younger, but I have never seen my mom in this kind of element. She baited her own hook a few times and could really cast a line. Kevin's luck rubbed off on my mom and she caught lots of fish, even the biggest one!

The day ended with a total of 14 fish caught; 13 Perch and 1 Bass.

It was a happy day for the hubby!

Time to Celebtate...

Happy birthday to Ana and Michelle! To celebrate, a big group of us went to dinner at Aldaco's and then we continued the birthday party by going out to a bar. We all had a lot of fun (maybe too much fun)!

Planting Flowers

Well spring has sprung! Time for being outside and making the yard look pretty. My grandparents bought a flat of flowers and needed some help planting them so Kevin and I went over to assist them. Kevin started out with one flat, but soon into the planting my Grandpa decided that one more flat would make the yard just perfect. While Kevin was planting one flat of flowers, my Granna was making lunch, and I went with my Grandpa to pick up another flat of flowers at a nursery.

By the end of the afternoon, flowers were planted in the front and backyard and hungry bellies were fed; a successful afternoon! Now it is time to spruce up our yard!

1, 2, 3, 4, 5 Caterpillars....

Well, I don't normally tend to blog about my job, but being a Kindergarten teacher is a HUGE part of my life. A few weeks ago, I ordered some caterpillars for my classroom. They have taken forever to get here, but today when I went to get the mail they finally arrived! Last week, we learned about the life cycle of a butterfly. You have no idea how much my kiddos are going to freak out when they see that we have five caterpillars. They are going to love to watch them turn into chrysalis' and eventually into five Painted Lady butterflies!

Here are my caterpillars...

Weekend Overview

It's raining, it's pouring..... that sums up this weekend. San Antonio has finally gotten a huge downpour of rain which is great because we need it, but it did mess up our weekend plans.

On Friday, Kevin and I went on a very exciting trip to Best Buy! I have been wanting a new camera for quite awhile now and that is exactly what my wonderful husband is going to get me for my birthday. I have narrowed it down to three cameras so I will soon find out which one I get.

Once again it was raining cats and dogs on Saturday. I went to lunch with Taylor, Ana, and Jennifer to a Mexican food restaurant. It was really good and it was nice to try something new. While at lunch, Taylor presented the three of us with a card that had a really cute poem on it. I can't wait to be Taylor's matron of honor! When I was my sister's maid of honor, I really had no idea what I was doing....sorry Jennifer. Now, I feel like a pro after her wedding and of course mine. Both Kristin and Taylor really did something cute to ask me to be in their weddings. All I did was ask over the phone, too bad I wasn't more creative. Kristin made these really adorable paper-dolls. These are just too cute....

Speaking of weddings, weddings, weddings, lately in the mail all what we have been getting is wedding invitations, save the dates, and shower invitations. They are all super cute and like I have said many times before, it's wedding season.

So back to our weekend.... we bought baseball tickets for the Missions game on Saturday night. I was really excited to go because Kevin is a sports fanatic and they were having fireworks after the game. Long story short, we ended up not going because of all the rain. We will have to try again and buy tickets for another game this summer when rain is not in the forecast.

Sunday was a very relaxing day, with no rain. We took Macy May for a nice little family walk in the neighborhood, which she loved. Yeah for weekends and close to being summer time!

He popped the question.....

Well this weekend was just supposed to be a quiet weekend with Kevin being out of town turkey hunting in Miles. Ana and I had planned to meet up for lunch or dinner on Saturday to catch up, but that all changed when I got an unexpected phone call from Cory. Cory is one of my best friend's boyfriend. I was surprised that he was calling, but quickly into the conservation I got the most exciting news... Cory was going to propose to Taylor at dinner on Saturday night!

I cannot explain how excited I was and so honored that Cory let me in on this BIG surprise! Taylor and I have been friends for about 10 years now. I can always depend on her and we have so much fun together. Cory is also a great guy and if I ever needed anything, I know without a doubt he would be there to help me.

Cory arranged for the two of them to go to dinner. While at dinner, Cory was going to ask Taylor for her hand in marriage. Then, the newly engaged couple were going to celebrate by getting drinks at Stone Werks, but that was also going to be a BIG surprise. Waiting at Stone Werks would be both sets of family and the couple's closest friends.

Here are some pictures and highlights of the evening (I'm not sure why some are blurry. I need a new camera.)...

In the top 5! Taylor called me and I wasn't allowed to answer the phone. Ana and I having a drink to celebrate...

They're engaged!!!

The ring...

Taylor is getting married!!! Check out that bling bling on Taylor's finger!

I am so excited for Taylor and Cory! Without a doubt, they are going to have a wonderful and joyful marriage. Let the planning begin!

Happy Easter!

I hope everyone enjoyed their Easter Sunday celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Easter at the Heinze's consisted of spending the day with some of our grandparents and my brother. My parents made the long drive from San Antonio to Springfield, MO to visit my sister and Curtis, so Kevin and I decided that we would have Easter dinner at our home. We invited my grandparents from San Antonio and Austin as well as my brother to join us.

My grandparents from Austin came down early on Saturday so we were able to spend extra time with them. We got to ride in my Nana's new car and enjoy a nice steak dinner.

Sunday consisted of going to church and then having family back over to our house. We used our China once again for a special occasion and enjoyed a big meal.

Even though we did not have an egg hunt, it was a great day and very fun to have quality time with both sets of grandparents.
