New Chair

It is amazing how something old can be transformed to something brand new by recovering a piece of furniture with new fabric or adding a fresh layer of paint. I have had a very old chair from my great grandmother in my possession for quite some time now. The fabric was very dated, the padding needed to be replaced, and there was a very large stain on the chair.

While Kevin and I were in Springfield this summer, Jennifer took me to a great fabric store where all of the fabric is way under priced. We picked out new fabric for the old chair and my mom took our chair to be recovered a few weeks ago.

Happy Birthday Mom and Dad

Not only was this the first week back to school for me, but it was also my parent's birthday week. My parent's birthdays are four days apart, so Kevin and I had lots of celebrations to attend. For my mom's birthday, we ate at Stone Werks and then had frozen yogurt at Orange Leaf. For my dad's birthday, my mom cooked spaghetti and homemade buttermilk pie. To conclude the birthday week, my grandparents took the family out to eat at Pappadeaux.

School will start on Monday! I am very excited to kick off the year and to get to know my 20 students. While I do love summer vacation, I have been ready to get back into the swing of things and teach again.

Some of you had mentioned that you wanted to see pictures of my classroom so here you go. As you walk into my room. Listening table and classroom library.

Mommy and Me

I love the fact that living so close to my parents I am able to see them as much as I want, without having to make a big trip out of it. At the end of last school year, my mom had said that she wanted to try to have more mother/ daughter time during the summer. So for the past few months, my mom and I have had a mommy/daughter date every Thursday. It has been a lot of fun running around town going out for lunch, running errands, and shopping. This past Thursday was our last summer date for the year. I love you mom and can't wait for our dates next summer!

Summer Fun

Summer is coming to an end and the new school year is right around the corner. Kevin took me on a suprise date last Wednesday to go tubing on the Comal River. We had so much fun! Kevin and I have probablly been talking about going tubing for the past two years, but for some reason or the other is hasn't happened. I'm glad it finally worked out! Since we went on a weekday it wasn't very crowed, the water was perfect, and it was nice just relaxing in the sun. We both got very intersting burns though. Not a huge surprise to me, missing a certan area is what normally happens. For some reason I missed my knees and ankles, but I would have to say Kevin's burn was the best! We'll just blame it on the spray sunscreen, since Kevin had stripes going down his belly. I wish I had a picture of that.

65 Years of Wedded Bliss

My grandparents just celebrated their 65th anniversary. Whenever they are not by each other, they will always let you know just how special and important the other one is. Their relationship is a great model of what I want our marriage to look like. It is a special and a rare thing to see two people so in love!

Moving On...

Good bye, adios, see you latter... but not forever!

Two of my dear friends are moving away from San Antonio to begin a new adventure in their lives. Ana is moving to Houston to start her job and will now finally be able to be in the same city as Adam! Meredith and Jared are packing up and headed to South Carolina to help a church grow and become stronger in the faith. To say goodbye, send best wishs, and have one last getting together, a group of us had a farewell dinner at Stone Werks.

All the girls ...... thank you boys for taking the pictures.

I will miss my Latin Lover Ana and my dear sweet friend Mere!

Have fun in your new cities, can't wait to come visit, and get ready for lots of phone dates!

Happy Birthday Sister!

Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday dear JENNIFER... Happy Birthday to you!

Love you sister and Happy Happy Birthday!

Kristin's Bachelorette Party

As we all know, Kristin is very close to becoming Mrs. Johnson. But before it's time to walk down the aisle it's time for a girls weekend!

All of Kristin's bridesmaids and friends made a trip to Austin, TX so we could embrace her last few days being a single lady! The afternoon began by the pool and then to 6th Street that evening.

The pretty bride to be...

Heart Sun Glass: the hit of the night (these might have just been my favorite thing ever).

I had so much fun and we danced the whole night! It was a blast and now Kristin and Cody are just one day closer to getting married.

Boys Will Be Boys...

Kevin definitely had a boy adventure for the last two days. So what does my boy like to do besides reading.... yep, that would be hunting and fishing.

On Thursday, Kevin was able to participate in a skeet shooting tournament. My dad's law firm had a team put together and since my dad is not much of a gun guy, he had his wonderful son in-law fill in his spot. Kevin was on a team with two other members of the TRPSA law firm. Six rounds of skeet, a bruised shoulder, and a new shell bag would make for a fun boy day #1.

Boy day #2 would consist of fishing at the Krenz's lake house on lake LBJ by Kingsland. Since Kevin's last fishing experience was spent assisting my fishing needs, this fishing trip would be all about the pro. Kevin spent a quiet day catching some good sized fish. Yet again, a very successful boy day and I am sure Kevin will have fun boy day #3 full of reading, amongst other things, when I am away for Kristin's bachelorette party.
