Ana & Adam Become AP2

It is official! Ana and Adam are married!

The wedding festivities began with a rehearsal dinner... Kentucky Derby style. This was my first time to see horse racing. Kevin taught me all the proper racing terms and we made lots of $2 bets. I ended up winning one race and Kevin won on two different races. We have already made plans to go back.

The next morning was wedding day in Castroville, TX. The girls got ready, the boys showed up, and the pictures began.

The wedding was absolutely beautiful. The ceremony overlooked the Hill Country and this was the first time that Kevin and I were both in the same wedding party since we got married. Kevin and I are so happy for the Purnells!

Project Headboard

So for all of those who know me, I am a very crafty person and come from a family of very crafty people. Putting together our house has been a slow process and will continue to be a slow process. Kevin and I have focused on key pieces of furniture and certain rooms that we spend more time in than others. One of our guest bedrooms needs some work and now we are going to focus just a little bit on that room.

The old room...

The feel I am going for in this room is happy country chic. The big project in this room is to find a headboard for the bed. I'm not sure if it was my sister, mom, or both, but someone had sugguested that we turn an old door into a headboard. This seemed like a reletivly inexpensive project that would make the room look much better.

So the quest was on to find a door. Just so happens that there is a barn in Miles filled with lots of old doors. We hit the jackpot! A free door that is aged. We brought the door back to San Antonio and after several months of just sitting in the garage we finally scrubbed it down.

Old door all cleaned...

I'm sure this door has a very interesting story and has seen a lot. I have come to find out that the door was on Kevin's great great grandparent's house. The door is wooden and by the looks of it, it has been painted red, green, and white. The paint is chipped and all the colors are coming through. I knew when I started this project, I wanted a white door and I thought I would rub the door with another paint color, but now I wasn't sure if I wanted to do this. After much thought, I decided to leave the door alone and to just seal it. Eventually when we have a house of our own and paint the walls then I might want to paint the door too, but for now it will stay how it is.

The fun tricky part of this project was hanging the door. Kevin had a master plan and I let him take full lead on this part of the project.

Now, the finished project! Welcome to our new guest bedroom!

Meet Our Newest Family Member...

Leroy became a member of the Heinze family on Sunday, July 10th. Leroy is a Black and Tan Coonhound that we adopted from a coonhound rescue organization. Macy May LOVES her new friend and has had a big smile on her face. The two of them get along very well and they are both such sweet puppy dogs.

So far we can tell that Leroy enjoys smelling the yard, pacing in the house, taking naps, and playing with his duck.

Welcome to the family Leroy!

Stephanie's Baby Bump

In September, Stephanie and Patrick will welcome their baby girl Hailey McShane into the world. I can't wait to meet this little girl! A baby shower was thrown for Stephanie and Patrick and now their baby girl will have lots of blankets, a few toys, lots of bows, and a fun bouncer.

4th of July Weekend

Our 4th of July weekend began by making a short trip up to Austin to celebrate my cousin, Karl's 30th birthday. You can never be too old for a pool party!

The next evening we had a BBQ at the Purnell's house. Macy May was even invited to have a play date! I would have to say the high-lite of the evening was when we were eating in the dinning room. Plates had been cleared, everyone was talking, and then out of the corner of my eye I see something on the table coming at me and then it was on my lower arm. I scream at the top of my lungs, flick what was a baby gecko off of me, and jump out of my chair! Ana then proceeds to scream and jump on top of her chair. Meanwhile everyone is just looking at us and the gecko is now on the floor. No need to fear... Kevin and Adam to the rescue! The boys caught the gecko and put it outside. Between the dog play date, the gecko, and playing a dance game on the Wii we had a very fun and eventful evening.

On the 4th, we spent the day at my parents.

Macy did not want to be in our family picture...

All fireworks shows had been canceled due to a burn ban so hopefully next year we will be able to see a show. Happy 4th of July and thank you to all service men and women who make HUGE sacrifices in their lives in order to keep our country free.

Last Fling Before the Ring...

Ana is getting married so we needed one last girls night before the big day. A few Fridays ago, I made my way up to Houston with Kevin. We were able to visit Kevin's aunt She're, who is in the hospital. She're looks good and we hope she has a speedy recovery. Kevin and I were also able to drive by his grandparents old house before I made it to Ana's apartment and Kevin made his way back to San Antonio.

Elizabeth, Adam's sister, also made it to Houston a day early and had a fun evening at Cedar Creek. The next morning, it was bachelorette party time! At first, we had a few complications with the hotel, but the Hyatt saved the day.

We enjoyed the afternoon by the pool...

Then it was a night out on the town with lots of dancing...

Ana's bachelorette party equals a success!
